About Portage

A non-custodial router for swapping assets across chains. You choose the route, send funds straight to the protocol that executes it, and follow the swap to the end.

What it does

Portage asks several cross-chain protocols for a price at the same moment and shows their offers side by side. You pick one. The funds go from your wallet to that protocol's vault and leave it for your address. Today the router covers 22 assets across seven networks - Bitcoin, Ethereum, Arbitrum, Avalanche, BNB Smart Chain, Tron and Solana - and asks four protocols: Chainflip, NEAR Intents, Relay and deBridge.

Why more than one protocol

Because no single one is always best. Measuring every protocol on the same pairs around the clock, the gap between the best and the worst offer at the same moment runs to dozens of basis points, and which one leads changes from week to week. A protocol also has days when it cannot serve a direction at all. Choosing among several is the whole point of the service. Everything else - the cost breakdown, the status page, the handling of refunds - exists so that the choice can be acted on.

What it costs

Our commission is 0.4% up to $1,000, 0.3% up to $10,000, 0.18% up to $50,000 and 0.12% above that. It is already inside the figure you see: the amount on the quote screen is what arrives. Every route also carries the protocol's own fees and network costs, and all of them are itemised before you send anything. Alongside the breakdown we show the minimum you will receive - the same number we hand to the protocol, not a softer one.

Who made it

Portage is built by Blacksmith Lab. Questions go to the support bot in Telegram - it is the only channel, and it answers about a specific swap as well as in general.
